Bacterial Co-infections and Antibacterial therapy in retrospective COVID-19 patients in AL Fallujah General Teaching Hospital

In order to determine a retrospective study data were collected from all 2031 COVID-19 patients detected by PCR (nasal swap) January/ 2020- January /2021 for Fallujah General Teaching Hospital ,which total number of Positive covid19 210 in isolation ward and Negative 1821.The condense on bacterial co-infections antibacterial therapy this bacteria. Clinical information : the genera females 60 ( 28.5%) males 150 (71.4%). microbiological blood sample through 48hour BACT/ALERT® Culture Media(1)then cultured routine bacteriological media according to(2)for positive growth isolated bacteria then identification done biochemical test. The result assumptive among samples, which 121 (57,6%) included S. pneumoniae , aureus epidermidis, K. pneumoniae, p. aeroginosa E. coli negative indeed enclose 89 (42.3%). Depending ABS achieve guidelines, most commonly used antibiotic way was Meropenem, Azithromycin Cefixime with median duration 6 (range 1–13) days when using Antibiotic Susceptibility test expressed each resistant sensitive discs isolate sensitivity patterns VITEK2 system some species as ensuring method, but; focus co-infection had highest frequency Staphylococcus 57 (47.1%) isolates Ciprofloxacin, Chloramphenicol, Gentamycin, Amikacin, azithromycin, Cefotaxime, tetracycline ,Trimethoprim/ Sulphamethoxazole Levofloxacin imipenem.
